Dennis Slatttery

Dear Empty Bell friends, We’ll kick off our Fall, ’22 gatherings with a fascinating, wisdom-provoking visit by Dennis Patrick Slattery, who describes himself as an Oblate at New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur. Yet this identity barely scratches the surface of a man with great depth and creativity.

Dennis is a Distinguished Core Faculty-member at Pacifica Graduate Institute, a training ground for Jungian analysts. He teaches the Greek classics (e.g., the Iliad and the Odyssey), and explores our personal myths in over thirty books. In Dennis’ experience, the ancient Greeks aren’t the only ones whose inner lives are populated by myths, archetypes, and deities. He invites us to explore the personal myths that circulate within and beneath our conscious lives, giving us ultimate meaning and a way forward.

I am currently enjoying Dennis’ Day-To-Day Dante: Exploring Personal Myth Through the Divine Comedy, and A Pilgrimage Beyond Belief: Spiritual Journeys Through Christian and Buddhist Monasteries of the American West.

I hope you can join us!
